No hair with Lincoln beard

In celebration of Lincoln’s 200th Birthday (assuming he is still alive) I am wearing this beard hair formation. When creating it, I was not sure if it was going to be well received or stared at like facial roadkill. So far, no one has given me the stink-eye… but that could just be because everyone is too nice.

On a side note, I dont really care that it is Lincoln’s 200th birthday.

I was trying to grow some basil at work to use at home while cooking. (It wouldn’t be me doing the cooking, it would be -k).

The basil plant did not take a christmas holiday like I did. I dont think dead basil can be used in any homecooked meal.

I’m sorry pet basil.

Today is the last groundhog day.

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today. I took him out from 373 yards away before he had a chance to see his shadow.

So Lily took 2 steps without holding on the other night. It was a very crude version of a walk, so I am sure walking is not too far away. She prefers to stand vs. lay down. She crawls to get to where she wants to stand. She is also getting quite good at climbing up onto or into things.

Lily in her toy box

About a week ago, we saw her first tooth coming in. It was a front bottom tooth. It was protruding from the gum all of a sudden. We were quite excited since all other babies we know around the same age have a mouthful of teeth already. Then the next day, we could not see the tooth. Its the case of the amazing retractable tooth. I would not put that talent past her. Now the tooth is no longer visible, but there is a bump. Maybe the gum swelled up around the newly sprouted tooth?

We have also tried feeding Lily some sliced cheese. As most babies, she loves it. Just last night she ate 3 pieces without hesitation. You can tell when she really likes a food when none of it is dropped down to the dog to be eaten in mid air. The cat also likes to eat from the high chair:

Why does Congress want to delay the February 17 deadline to take away the analog signal for television stations? A whopping %5.7 of households still are not ready to receive the new digital signal (according to a recent Neilsen Rating). Congress thinks that this last %5 is worth delaying the deadline by four months. Four months will help everyone get on board.

Its not a hard concept to grasp but there are people who will not change until forced to.

grandma deitz tv is not digital ready

Delay the deadline by four months, all the people who have not converted by February will still not convert by June. Plus why does the government care who can or cant watch TV? It is not an obligation to get television channels is it? Its not a God given right to watch American Idol.

People who are not aware of the change will be aware when they cant watch Jerry Springer on Tuesday Feb. 17th. They will probably wake up out of their stupor and join the rest of us who have been able to watch cable since the mid eighties. It seems pretty obvious to me that this last couple of million people who are not ready, don’t care too much to be ready.

I say just convert the signal already. AT&T already purchased the spectrum that television channels broadcast on. Maybe the government cares because if AT&T use this spectrum for cellular phone signals, then that must mean that old TVs will be able to pick up those signals… no? I really don’t know or care. I have have not watched TV from an over the air antenna for a very long time. I prefer to watch things in HD anyways.
