I recently bent my back rim on my Redline Monocog 26″ bike. I thought it would be a good time to upgrade the wheelset, put on some Profile BMX cranks and get some disc brakes. All parts were ordered and delivered.
I didn’t have a bottom bracket removal tool so I had to travel to several bike shops to find one. Bottom bracket remover purchased. Bottom bracket removal process hits snag.
I discover the bottom bracket is partially plastic and has decided to break. The outer part of the plastic comes off leaving behind the threads inside the frame. Out came the dremel. I eventually get the plastic threads out of the frame.
Installing the new bottom bracket hit a snag the threads in the frame are a bit messed up. The new bottom bracket threads get flattened a little bit during the installation attempt. Frustrated.
Fastforward a little bit. I decided to order a new frame. After some extensive research I decided on the Folsom frameset from Swobo. It is matte black with oversized aluminum tubing. It comes in 2 sizes, a 20″ and a 16″ frame. I chose the 16″ frame to allow for a low seat position. I find it much easier to manuver with the seat out of the way. It is also more fun to hop around when the bike is set up like a BMX bike.
The frame was ordered then delivered. Assembly began.
The messed up bottom bracket from the prior installation attempt was very stubborn. It took a big wrench and a lot of patience to get it into the new frame. I dont think it is coming out. Luckily it is the bottom bracket for the trusty Profile BMX cranks. The frame will break before the cranks will.
The rest of the installation went with any further issues. Cue the rain.
For three days following the completion of the build it rained. I hope it is the best bike I have ever ridden. I will find out once i have time and the weather cooperates.

Lily had some fun this weekend in New York. These clips were shot in Washington Square Park which technically is not in Soho.
