What direction do you see this image rotating? If you see it rotating counter-clockwise then you use more of the left side of your brain. If you see it rotating clockwise, then you use more of the right side of your brain.

Left Brain Functions:

  • uses logic
  • detail oriented
  • facts rule
  • words and language
  • present and past
  • math and science
  • can comprehend
  • knowing
  • acknowledges
  • order/pattern perception
  • knows object name
  • reality based
  • forms strategies
  • practical
  • safe

Right Brain Functions:

  • uses feeling
  • “big picture” oriented
  • imagination rules
  • symbols and images
  • present and future
  • philosophy & religion
  • can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
  • believes
  • appreciates
  • spatial perception
  • knows object function
  • fantasy based
  • presents possibilities
  • impetuous
  • risk taking

right vs. left

I personally can only see it rotating clockwise which means I use the right side of my brain more and is supposedly less common. If I look at the bottom of the rotation with just my right eye I see the rotation going counter-clockwise and vice versa when looking at it with just my left eye. Stolen from the Daily Telegraph.

as far as I can tell the image is rotating clockwise no matter how I look at it

Look closer or more near the bottom. Try looking at the shadow and feet more. Then maybe you can see it rotating the other way. I can now see it rotate both clockwise and counter.

I hate to be so left brained but you say that you see it rotating clockwise and that means you use your left brain more, however, at the top it says that if you see the image rotating clockwise, you use your right part of your brain more. I don’t want to be petty but you’ve got me real confused! LOL

The image moves clockwise for me, but I am able to make it move both ways if I wish it, however even if I make it run counter clockwise it reverts back to clockwise after a short period of time.
