I just recently got back from a weekend in the midwest. We drove to Chicago on Thursday. Went to Madison to see Bret on Friday. Went to a party west of Joliet IL and a concert in Chicago on Saturday.

We saw Chromeo and Flosstradamus at the Empty Bottle. The show was nothing compared to the weekend prior we saw the same show here in Philly at the Theater of the Living Arts. The sound was so much better at the TLA. The DJ set that Flosstradamus played in Philly was a nice Chicago house set. The set they played in Chicago was an annoying early 90’s mix of all the crappiest songs of that time… and the crowd loved it for some reason. Its probably because the new thing in Chicago seems to be trying to wear the crappiest of early to mid 80’s outfits - the ones that were probably made fun of even back then - crap.

Chromeo was good both places. The sound at the Empty Bottle made the ‘casio tone’ vibe sound very muffled. The set seemed to be cut short in Chicago, but thats ok, they still allow smoking inside that bar so I would have rather left anyways. My eyes and lungs thanked me when I left.

-K is staying in Chicago now for 4 days longer than planned, so I am all alone. Boo.
