Why cant I have an Aeron car seat? Why doesnt Herman-Miller design an ergonomic (or not so ergonomic) mesh drivers seat? Why must all car chairs need to be plush with foam, padding and coiled springs? Wouldn’t a mesh chair or drivers seat save leg room for both the front and back passengers? Wouldn’t there be more space under the seat for storage? You could even look through the mesh to see what is under your seat. Cleaning would be so much easier if your car seat was made of strong fabric rather than faux leather.

Leather makes you either sweat in the summer or makes you freeze in the winter. An Aeron style chair in your car would be less likley to do either. If you were hot, you could be cooled off through the mesh of the seat. Ventalation would increase quite a bit. The seat would be lighter than a typical seat.

Maybe the seat would be less protection in a car crash? Maybe not if it was designed properly. We have material (kevlar) that can prevent a bullet from penetrating it… so I would think that you could make a mesh seat that was just as protective if not more than a typical car seat of today. Of course there could be some top of the line seats made for the richy rich, and make some cheaper ones for the rest of us.

‘DuPont also showed off a “suspension seating chair,” similar to furniture maker Herman Miller Inc.’s Aeron chair. The new automotive seat had a textured woven fabric and no foam or coils. It is waterproof and cooler than traditional seats. Designers say it may help keep drivers more alert than traditional seats.’

I want my suspension seat made out of mesh for the car.
