Mars.
In my short 40 years on this planet I have seen comet(s), Jupiter smashed into, line ups and eclipses and tonight as I was letting the dog out before bed I got an eyeful of Mars. You really cant miss this huge red orb in the sky it’s one of the best events for free I have seen. And I think it’s due to get closer so check out the sky at night!!

Nothing like a bit of global terrorism to bring us all together eh… =)

Nocturnal Wife Abuse. My hubby has never laid a hand on me in all our 20 years of marriage although he may have liked to. But last night I couldnt sleep at all. He has always been asleep in 10 mins but thats men for you… In all our time together while asleep he has punched me on the nose, put his hands around my neck, kicked and punched me and all this while he says he is asleep. Last night around 4 am he flopped over and bit me hard on the shoulder so hard that my cry of pain actually woke him up. He was oh so apologetic this morning but I bet he’s had a right giggle at work. Should I be worried about a repressed desire to kill me? Mind you the only nightmare he’s ever had at ALL was one where I was strangling him…now, where did I put those scissors…

Hello people.
I am here in sunny Basrah, Iraq. In fact, its the hottest place i have ever been too. Its also the most bleeding dangerous with 2 dead in the first 2 days of my being here. Ho Hum.
Biblicone. Mob, you may be pleased to know I have a pic of me in full gear + plus Bib T-Shirt next to many destroyed tanks etc, here in Iraq. I will do my best to get it to you if you somehow, get in touch.
I hope all is well in your world. I would like to say more, but I wont. Maybe when I come back in december.
Laters.
I just saw the new Mark Owen (who?) video on a music channel. The song is called Four Minute Warning with a suitably apocalyptic video. But the video goes nowhere at the end. Too scared to have an ending? Too scared because it may not sell if you scare people? A sign of the times. Countdown to nothing in particular…

Korea #3
I get to Camp Garry Owen, and unload my bags. I start filling out more paper work (the Army is all about paper work, there does not seem to be any such thing as a central database of personal information, and if there is, no one uses it). A couple of the Seargents were making fun of the amount of baggage i brought. Im moving here for at least 12 months, how many bags would you pack? Plus, when I was at Camp Mobile, they issued me 3 new bags full of stuff. Stuff like everything you can imagine an Army guy wearing… utility belt (pistol belt), kevlar (helmet), pocketed vest (LBE = load bearing equipment), green coveralls for working on the Bradley, lots of different types of gloves, lots of cold weather gear… you get the picture.
I my self was carrying about 150 pounds of my stuff, and then there was still 3 other bags, giving me a total of 7 bags of stuff. Ouch. Oh well, I needed to bring all my CDs (350+) DVDs and my Playstation2. Oh ya, and a few clothes.
I finish my paper work, and take all my bags (with help) and I am put into the first floor of the barracks in the Pool room, right next to a pool table. I am told I can sleep on the couch, but its a weird wooden/cushion sectional couch. It looks more like a row of 3 chairs.
The Seargents leave me on my own, in the pool room, and tell me to wait there until someone comes by to get me. An hour and a half later, another Sgt. comes by and hands me off to a lower ranking guy (private) and he then proceedes to show me around. He shows me the DEFAC (dining facility) the PX (post exchange = shoppette = small store that sells everything) and a place called Ms. Kims Shop right outside our front gates. At Ms. Kims Shop you can buy some mink blankets, silk sheets, phone cards, and cell phones. I bought myself a $65 cell phone, and a $10 phone card that gives me 300 minutes of talk time to the US.
Its kind of sad that I had a phone and phone number, 4 days before I even got a mailing address… but thats how things work here in South Korea I guess…
More to come in Korea #4
Overheard on yet another dog walk…
I was walking past the playground by the school (remember I can get in there) and there were a couple of wee Scottish mites playing on it. (I remember when my playground had concrete tubes and slabs to play with and climbing frames that went 20 feet up in places but we were well hard back then…I digress)
“Ahve pist ahn that yin” said the wee scoundrel… and it turns out that they were doing this to all the toys in the park. I saw some children playing on them today totally oblivious to what had gone on before… No more sliding for me! Its not all Brigadoon here in Scotland you know heehee!

I am writing this as I think it and I may regret sharing it with you. But so what anyway, here goes…
Once someone becomes a Christian His Holy Spirit moves in; its part of the package. When He says you are never alone He really means it. To me it means if I find myself on my own I am never alone because He lives inside of me. But today (and Ive been a Christian 19 years) I realised that no matter what happens to me He will go through it with me. If a plane flies into a building I am in or I am in a hospital bed with some wierd disease or just plain hit by a car, all these things He actually goes through with me. I am sitting here writing this and amazed at where my thoughts are leading…
Whenever it is my time to check out and check in He will be there with me. It strikes me as a very scary thought that if you do not have this your spirit leaves alone. And only God knows where it goes to after that.
Rosie (hoping she wont get booted off the site…)
PS If you are wondering why I am thinking like this it’s because of the sad story of an eminent weapons expert dieing alone in a field…
