Israel.
I truly understand what WR says about Israel being the unknown element in any future war, and yes, I can agree that I too, think neighbouring countrys are wary of the might that Israel is capable of waving.
I have seen the evidence of forces of Israel in action. They are pro-Brit forces and have been known to train with them, and they arent tin-pot soldiers. Israelis are fully armed, motivated and capable of kicking ass. In world comparisons I rate them highly, with the Germans, Brits ( if it could match numbers of men) and the US.
Should war errupt then it would not been a shock if Saddam launched on Israel, as he did in the Gulf war, however, even he knows he might as well take a bottle of 9mm shower gel into the bathroom because he knows that it would be far worse than he could cope with. Israel is most definately Nuclear and should she unleash on Iraq, I would fear a tradegy that no president of USA could talk them out of.
Does the UK and US premeditate this threat? Probably, but war is all about ifs and buts. Money wont sort out your logistics if the enemy can disable them and its a long trek into Baghdad. Im all for knocking the crap out of Iraq, and I have never said different. I also know the problems it will create when and if it occurs, but niggling in the back of mind is Israel. Sharron has already said that Israel wont be so placid, should Iraq launch upon her, as she did in the Gulf war.
Palestine? WHite Rose?
Its coming up to that anniversary… no not the death of Princess Di, I
refer to Sept 11th.
The US has been a mighty presence for so long now and maybe we in the West
have got a little too used to it. In Europe we are used to them turning out
and solving our problems both big and small (Perejil) usually with their
elite weapons and for most of the time on target. In the US these days they
think nothing of using these weapons (or powers) in other peoples countries.
Im reminded from history that this is just what we Brits had to put up with
when we had an empire. Our empire was such that you still see our Union Jack
on other peoples flags. But were we appreciated? Most of the time I think
not. In fact those that gained independence from us were very happy indeed
that they kicked the Brits out. Our little empire cost us roughly 2300 war
cemeteries scattered over most of the globe. Our ancestors were quite keen
to further the power of the empire even to the most ultimate cost of their
lives. I imagine America will think it is blood worth shedding for freedom
and in that they have a point.
It is my view that the world will see a power shift from America to Europe.
In some way the twin towers downfall will allow for a global currency swap
from the Dollar to the Euro. But the process is not over yet… we have to
see what else will happen to America before this happens.
A British view on the twin towers incident? Poor things or its your own
fault? As I referred to earlier, empires are entities in flux. One thing I
do know, empires rise and fall usually from the inside out. Sept 11th? Just
another marker on the road towards a new empire in Europe. Their own fault?
I think its too close to the event to tell. Maybe 5 years from now we’ll see
it differently. Dont mess around with other peoples countries is my view
from “over here”. Been there, done that.
